On the next episode of Dan's Anatomy...
Dan works as a Physician Assistant at one of the most prestigous cancer hospitals in the world, MD Anderson, here in Houston's Texas Medical Center. He works in Interventional Radiology. I can't efficiently explain what he does but I know he works hard. I am so proud of the work he does as I know working in cancer treatment can be pretty taxing. He is so compassionate and caring but always manages to keep his spirits up. Sofia and I are so lucky to have him!
For some reason they had a photo shoot with all the PAs in Dan's dept so I thought I'd let you all see him in action. Actually, it looks like the next cast of young interns on the next season of Gray's Anatomy. I wonder who's sleeping with McDreamy? It better not be Dan!
Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!
The latest..
Happy Birthday Tio Louis! Sofia's sweet uncle is having a birthday today. We love him so much and really hope he has a great day. Here's a picture of him holding Sofia when she was just shy of 2 months.
Mother's Day Well, this was my first mother's day as a mother and without my mother. It was a bittersweet day. Dan's mother, Loretta, came over and watched Sofia while we went to church for Sofia's baptism classes. Dan had to work that day but Loretta stayed and we went to lunch and just hung out. It was nice to have someone to spend the day with. Thanks also to all for your phone calls, sweet emails and cards. Here's me and our babygirl on Mother's Day...
Other news My sister, Emily and her fiance, Jeff bought their first house. We are all very excited for them and I can't wait to see it. Sofia and I are going to fly in to Dallas this weekend to see it and all the leather and miles of LCD in their living room. It will also be nice to spend some time with my family, especially my father, on the anniversary of mom's death. I don't know that the one year anniversary will be any different for me from any other day. I miss her every day and I feel the loss every day. But I think it will be nice to be home; in her home. And I know Sofia can't wait to see her Bobo!

Sofia the Sailor
Sofia's lucky enough to have a closet full of the cutest clothes, including, yes, a sailor outfit. Thanks to Sofia's Auntie Tracey her closet is stocked and we couldn't be more grateful! Every so often I have to go through and see which outfits I must hurry and put her into before she outgrows them. It is so fun! So this past Wednesday as I was pondering which outfit to put her in I realize I've not come across an occasion to put her in her sailor's outfit (with matching shoes and hat, of course!) so what better reason than lunch with mommy's friends, right? We had strangers visiting the table to compliment her and lots of cute smiles. She was so adorable I snapped a few pictures once we got home. I thought I'd share.
The outfit (or all the attention) must make her happy because she was having a blast on her play gym later that same afternoon. Here's some pictures and a video of all the fun!
This next video cracks me up because if you notice she's smiling at herself in the mirror. When I get down on her level she makes a face as if she's "been caught!" She then proceeds to roll over. I love how I've caught her in the act of flirting with herself. Love to all!

A year ago today...
One year ago today. Dan and I traveled to visit my parents. I couldn't wait to share the news with them any longer! We found out May 1st of last year that we were pregnant and I wasn't going to wait any longer to tell them, especially Mom, as I knew she'd be thrilled.
A few of you know that last year we had big plans to throw a party to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday. I would design the invitations and Louis would write it. I wanted to do a timeline of Papi's interesting life but I needed Louis to make it funny. It was great! We poked fun at his love for Cuban coffee, his strong political views and his lack of hair. The last entry was August 2004 - First grandchild is born, Now answers to "Bobo." Nobody had seen the finished invitation yet and Papi didn't even know about it so I told them I wanted to show it to them in person. I had doctored two up especially for them that included a new entry, May 2007 - Finds out Angie's pregnant I had Mom read it outloud while Papi followed along. Papi read a bit ahead and I noticed his face full of surprise and excitement first and then it was Mom's turn. She jumped immediately out of her seat with a great joy and a warm hug. I will never forget that moment, as it's the last great memory I have of her.
I cry as I write this because I miss her so much and I know she would have enjoyed Sofia so immensely as she did Matthew. All I can hope is that she's watching over us now and is partly responsible for the strength that I've had in taking care of her. They become happy tears as I turn and look at my sweet girl, all smiles and coos. Despite my heartache, I am blessed.
32 Years Ago Today...
she gave birth to my brother, David. I know she was very proud of him and loved watching him become a father. Happy birthday, David!!! Here's a picture of David holding Sofia when she was first born.

Sofia, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model?
Today we went to visit Sofia's grandparents who live here in Houston. In anticipation of our trip to South Padre Island in July her Grandma bought her the cutest itsy bitsy teeny weeny red polka dot one-piece. You thought I was going to say bikini, didn't you?
Here are some pictures her Grandma took of her modeling her new suit and playing with her Daddy on the floor. Sofia was all smiles and giggles. She's getting so big and is so much fun! Enjoy...

Happy Birthday Julie!
Today Sofia's aunt and godmother turns 22! At least that's what she told us.
Happy Birthday, Julie! You've been an amazing and fun sister in law and I'm so glad that we've been able to share so much. We're so excited about the new baby cousin and I can't wait for Sofia to welcome her or him into the world as lovingly as Matthew did for Sofia. We love you!!!

Happy Birthday Bobo!
Well, it's birthday season for the Mayors.
Today my dad turns 71! Can you believe it? You can't tell by looking at him. He's as strong as an ox and healthy as can be. He's not even on a single medication. We are all very proud of him. Cheers to antioxidants! Let's all toast with a shot of pomegranate juice.
I've posted a video of Sofia and me wishing her Bobo a happy birthday... and many more to come. We love you, Papi!
I'm also attaching a couple of pictures of him with his grandchildren, the lights of his life.
